Reading the site

Reading Emergence Network needs no account and sends nothing about you beyond what any web request already carries (your IP address and browser type) to two places: Cloudflare, who hosts the site, and Cloudflare’s own Web Analytics, which counts page visits without a cookie and without tracking you individually across sites. Your theme choice (light, dark, or an accent color) is saved in your browser’s own local storage, not sent anywhere, and never leaves your device.

Creating an account

An account is only needed to comment, favorite, save a build, file a correction, or write a guide. Creating one asks for an email address and a password, or lets you sign in with Discord instead, in which case Discord shares your Discord username and avatar with this site and nothing else. Either way, your account is stored by Supabase, the database and authentication service Emergence Network runs on, not by Emergence Network itself on its own servers, since there are none. Your session (proving you are signed in) is kept in your browser’s local storage, the same way your theme choice is.

A profile stores a handle, a display name, and an avatar if you add one. None of it is shown to anyone until you use it: commenting and building are both optional, and an account with none of those is just an email address and a password sitting unused.

What using the site adds to that

  • Favorites: which community builds you have bookmarked. The count is public. Whose favorite it is is not.
  • Comments: what you write, under your handle, shown publicly until you withdraw it or a moderator removes it.
  • Corrections: what you reported and where, credited to your handle if you were signed in when you filed it, anonymous if you were not.
  • Saved and shared builds: the loadout itself, a name, and an optional note. Private until you choose to share it to the community library.

What this site does not do

  • It does not sell or share your data with anyone. There is no advertising network on this site to share it with.
  • It does not track you across other websites. Cloudflare’s analytics counts a page view for this site and does not follow you anywhere else.
  • It does not email you anything you did not ask for. The only mail Supabase sends on this site’s behalf is a sign-in link or a password reset, and only when you request one.

Removing your account

Use Delete this account on your account page. It removes your profile, saved builds, favorites, collection progress, notifications and unpublished drafts. Your comments stay on their threads as removed, under “Deleted account”. An accepted correction stays on the record without your name. If you have published articles, ask on Discord first, because staff must move the byline.

Third parties this runs on

  • Cloudflare: hosting, and the cookieless analytics mentioned above.
  • Supabase: the account, database and sign-in system everything above is stored in.
  • Discord: only if you choose to sign in with it.
  • Twitch: read only, to show live viewer counts on the population page. It never sees you or your account. The request is between this site’s own server and Twitch’s, not your browser.
  • Twitch and YouTube players: the players on the watch page load only when you press Load. Until then nothing is requested from either.
  • Ko-fi: the Support link in the header leaves this site for Ko-fi. Nothing is shared with Ko-fi unless you follow that link.
