In-game description

A Locust weapon originally forged in the heart of Nexus to combat the Lambent threat, this assault rifle fires a six-round burst that hits as hard as its name suggests. The Hammerburst served the Locust Horde as the standard rifle for infantry Drones in the Lambent War, and later saw widespread use during the invasion of the surface world on Emergence Day.
