Most of the confusion is not about price. Three editions and an upgrade path launched on October 6, 2026, and the messaging about what each one includes has been muddled.
The editions
Four things separate them: how you buy it, whether you get in early, how much Iron comes with it, and what arrives in a box. Everything else is cosmetic.
Four ways to buy it
The cosmetics are listed underneath.
| Edition | Format | Early access | Iron |
|---|---|---|---|
| StandardThe base game | Digital and physical | — | — |
| PremiumBase game and the packs | Digital | 5 days | 1,000 |
| Premium UpgradeAdded to a Standard copy | Digital | 5 days | 1,000 |
| Collector’sPremium, plus the box | Xbox Series X and Steam | 5 days | 1,000 |
Premium adds the Emergence Customization Pack of character skins and weapon sets, four seasonal customization packs, and the Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack. The Premium Upgrade puts all of that on a Standard copy you already own.

The four things Premium adds, as the game presents them in its own store.
The Xbox Store listing for the Emergence Customization Pack names everything in it, and it is more than “character skins and weapon sets.” In full:
- The Death’s Rendezvous Legendary Marcus character skin
- The Death’s Rendezvous Legendary weapon skin set
- The Bloodied Hunter Epic character skin, for Tai
- The Emergence Omen Rare weapon skin set, plus a matching emblem and banner
- Two Legendary poses: We Must Improvize and A Rendezvous With Death
- A Rendezvous Marcus icon
The game’s own text describes the two skins the same way the store does: “Featuring the Death’s Rendezvous Marcus and Bloodied Hunter Tai character skins and more.” That’s Tai Kaliso, the leader of Theta Squad who links up with Bravo Squad partway through the campaign demo, named once elsewhere too. The Bloodied Hunter skin is his, not a fifth member of Bravo Squad’s own set.
Some players call the Marcus skin “Ghost Rider,” for the burning skull and glowing eyes in the art above. That’s a nickname, not what Xbox or The Coalition call it.
The Coalition’s own launch art for the Bloodied Hunter skin pairs it with the “We Must Improvise” Legendary pose specifically. The Xbox Store’s own listing for the pack spells the same pose “We Must Improvize.” Both spellings are the Coalition’s own.
Collector’s is Premium plus the physical goods: a 15-inch diorama statue, metal replica COG tags, a SteelBook case and an art print. It sells through the Xbox Game Studios Shop rather than the Xbox store, in limited quantities.
Xbox lists Standard at $69.99 and Premium at $99.99, both shown as starting prices, so expect regional variation. The Collector’s Edition is sold separately through the Xbox Game Studios Shop.
Nothing good is locked behind Premium
This is where most of the confusion sits. The bonus does not scale with edition. Every edition comes with:
- The Exfil Dom Legendary character skin
- The Exfil Legendary weapon skin set
- Early access to the Open Beta for pre-orders, which ran from August 6, 2026
So if you were holding off on Standard because you assumed the good cosmetic was gated behind Premium, it is not. Premium buys the five-day head start, the Iron and the four seasonal packs.
Early access
Premium and Collector’s buyers played from October 1. Everyone else played from October 6.

What the five days meant
Five days was a head start on a game whose ranked system sets a hidden skill rating during your placement matches and then uses it to pick every lobby you get afterwards. Placing against five days of settled players is not the same as placing into launch-week chaos. Whether that was worth the price of an edition was a personal call.
The Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack is campaign only. It does not carry into Versus or Horde Siege. Read the small print on any bundle that leads with it.
Game Pass changes the math
E-Day is on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with no pre-order required. That was the biggest factor in the decision and it barely got mentioned in the edition comparisons going round.
If you already paid for Ultimate, a purchase bought you the early access window and the cosmetics. The game itself was included. The trade was whether five days and a Dom skin were worth the price of an edition, not "buy the game or don’t".
Advice from before launch
On Game Pass already? Skip the editions unless you specifically wanted the early access.
Buying outright and you play ranked? Premium. Five days of settled placement matches was an advantage, and the Iron and seasonal packs softened the gap to Standard.
Want the statue? Collector’s is limited and it is Xbox Series X and Steam only. Limited runs on Gears collector’s editions have not historically hung around.
