Warpath and the Scorched Legion event are live

Warpath is in Versus and the Scorched Legion event is in Horde Siege. What each is, and what is still unknown.

4 min read

Two modes went live on October 8. Warpath is a Versus mode. The Scorched Legion event is a Horde Siege mission. Each has a reference page.

What is official

Nothing yet. The latest post in Steam’s announcement feed is the October 6 launch post, and no official post names either mode. A line gets marked official when The Coalition or Xbox says it.

Warpath

The mode has a four-line rule card. Capture the zone to gain points. 100 points wins the round. Two rounds win the match. The round timer is 10 minutes. The full set of rules is on the Warpath page.

The game holds three zone outlines for each of the six Versus maps. Outlines are drawn for all six Versus maps, and every map page carries a Warpath outline switch. Market and Outpost also have 11 circular hills in a fixed order, and the Warpath page lists where they sit. On Market, three of the 11 hills sit on the map’s center line: hills 1, 6 and 11. That is the order the game numbers them in, and it is provisional.

Not known: zone size, how fast points build, overtime values, rewards, or whether Warpath is permanent or rotating. The rule card also does not say the zone moves. A third-party guide does, and no official page says so.

The Scorched Legion event

The Horde Siege mission list shows it as Scorched Legion, next to the Classic Horde entry. The game also holds two encounters for it, a Defend and a Hold, with three waves each. The event page lists the enemy types in every wave.

  • Defend: the Scorched Siegebreaker is in all three waves. Wave 2 adds a Reaver with its gunner and pilot drones.
  • Hold: the Scorched Rusher is in all three waves, and the Scorched Grenadier joins in wave 2. Wave 2 also has a Flooder.
  • Both: Vraahk (called Vrak in some Horde Siege text) is in the last wave. Its Horde Siege health pool reads 200,000 in the game, up from 50,000 earlier.

Those encounters are tied to the mission only by their shared name. The game gives no explicit link. The counts, the order and the timing are not known. Defend wave 1 names only three enemy types, the shortest of the six lists.

What to try first

  • For Warpath, open the outline for your map before you queue. Every Versus map page has one.
  • For the event, plan for Vraahk. Both encounters end with it. Set up your loadout in the class builder and share it with your squad as a link.
  • Check the modifiers. Seven shotgunner modifiers list the Scorched Rusher as a target, and the modifiers page names them. Which ones the event carries is not known.

What is not known

  • What the event pays out, and whether any Scorched Legion cosmetic is a reward.
  • Which map the event runs on, and when it ends.
  • Whether Warpath is a permanent playlist.

The rest of the Horde Siege list is on the missions page, and the Horde Siege guide covers how the mode works.
